Any public hospital in Egypt operating under the Ministry of Health can provide emergency and primary health care to all
migrants, asylum seekers, refugees and other persons of concern to UNHCR regardless of their residence status. Patients will
have to pay for the same nominal fee for the medical treatment as the nationals. Fees are meant to be affordable, but
sometimes medicines or other consumables are not available and the patient needs to buy them at his/her own expense.
Even though all public hospitals can provide emergency and primary health care, the following public hospitals in Cairo and
Alexandria are recommended as they have a potential capacity to accommodate migrants and refugees.
